"ESA will loft the Herschel space telescope, the biggest telescope in space, along with Planck, the most sensitive probe of the cosmic microwave background - the “echo” of the Big Bang. If that rocket blows up, it will be a disaster for astronomy. "
ESA’s ExoMars has already been delayed from 2009 to 2001 to 2013and now won’t be expected to land until 2017, if Europe can raise double the original starting price.
A Chinese Mars orbiter Yinghuo-1 will also be sent on the ten month journey to Mars, which blasts off in October.

Richard Feynman on Boltzmann Brains | Discover Magazine
The Boltzmann Brain paradox is an argument against the idea that the universe around us, with its incredibly low-entropy early conditions and consequential arrow of time, is simply a statistical fluctuation within some eternal system that spends most of its time in thermal equilibrium.

Boltzmann’s Anthropic Brain | Cosmic Variance | Discover Magazine
"The problem of the arrow of time ― why is the past different from the future, or equivalently, why was the entropy in the early universe so much smaller than it could have been? ― has attracted physicists’ attention ever since Boltzmann explained the statistical origin of entropy over a hundred years ago. Fritz Zwicky - Wikipedia
"Gravitational lenses
In 1937, Zwicky posited that galaxy clusters could act as gravitational lenses by the previously discovered Einstein effect. It was not until 1979 that this effect was confirmed by observation of the so-called "Twin Quasar" Q0957+561.
When researchers talk about neutron stars, dark matter, and gravitational lenses, they all start the same way: “Zwicky noticed this problem in the 1930s. Back then, nobody listened . . .”"

he is the oddball astronomer who reportedly called a colleague a Nazi, claimed credit for everything that happened in cosmology after Einstein.

According to the Beijing News, a Russian-built rocket will carry a Chinese-built probe, and a Russian satellite into space.
Yinghuo 1, the Chinese probe, will carry two cameras to take photos of Mars and the Martian moon Phobos."

Gaia set to launch in 2011
Astronomers Aim to Grasp Mysterious Dark Matter-- SPACE.com
"Upcoming experiments on Earth such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) particle accelerator in Switzerland, and a new spacecraft called Gaia set to launch in 2011, could be the key to closing the case on one of the biggest unsolved mysteries in science."

Yinghuo-1: a small 110 kilogram spacecraft
China to launch Mars exploration rover in 2009
"According to the deep space exploration plan, Yinghuo-1, a small 110 kilogram spacecraft with an estimated one year life span, is expected to be put into orbit by August 2010, after an 11 month long and 350 million kilometers distant space journey."

China, Russia Team Up To Photograph Mars -redOrbit
"Next October, China and Russia plan to work together to launch two satellite probes to photograph Mars and one of its small moons.
According to the Beijing News, a Russian-built rocket will carry a Chinese-built probe, and a Russian satellite into space.
Yinghuo 1, the Chinese probe, will carry two cameras to take photos of Mars and the Martian moon Phobos."

"Russia and China signed a cooperative agreement on the joint exploration of Mars on March 26, 2007. The project includes the launch of the Yinghuo-1 Chinese-made Mars probe.
Yinghuo-1 and the Russian Phobos-Grunt probe will be sent together to Mars on a Russian Zenit rocket from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan."

Boltzmann Brains - Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boltzmann_Brains

Fritz Zwicky
Back then, nobody listened . . .”"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fritz_Zwicky
he is the oddball astronomer who reportedly called a colleague a Nazi, claimed credit for everything that happened in cosmology after Einstein.
