Gliese 581: The new planet is one of six orbiting the star Gliese 581

(Imagery shows planetary orbits of the Gliese 581 system compared to those of our own solar system. The Gliese 581 star has about 30% the mass of our sun, and the outermost planet is closer to its star than we are to the sun.
The 4th planet, G, is a planet that could sustain life.)
A team of planet hunters led by astronomers at the University of California (UC), Santa Cruz and the Carnegie Institution of Washington has announced the discovery of a planet orbiting a nearby star, Gliese 581, at a distance that places it squarely in the middle of the star's "habitable zone."
This would be the most Earth-like exoplanet and the first truly habitable one yet discovered.
The research was supported by grants from NASA and the National Science Foundation.
“Goldilocks” refers to an exoplanet whose temperatures are “not too cold, not too hot, but just right” to maintain water and support Earth-like life.

Diaoyu Islands 釣魚台、釣魚島
新華社の現在の主張は
Backgrounder: History proves Diaoyu Islands are China's territory
The islands appeared on China's map since the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
There are records about the islands in a book published during the rule of Yong Le (1403 to 1424) in the Ming Dynasty, more than 400 years before Japan claimed discovery of the Diaoyu islands in 1884.
In 1951, Japan and the United States illegally signed a treaty in San Francisco without the presence of China, which was one of the victor countries in the Second World War.
