加藤被告の弁護士によると、本人の希望により加藤被告は参加しなかった。弁護側は起訴内容に対する認否と検察側証拠の採否に関する意見を述べた。しかし、「（裁判所、検察側、弁護側）３者の協議の結果、認否は明らかにできない」とした。加藤被告は捜査段階では起訴内容を認めており、最大の争点は刑事責任能力の有無だが、この日は責任能力については協議しなかったという。次回は７月３０日に行われる。
